Last Village of Himachal Pradesh
Chitkul (or Chittkul) is a town in the Kinnaur region of Himachal Pradesh. During winters, the place mostly remains covered with the snow and the inhabitants move to bring down areas of Himachal. Chitkul, on the banks of Baspa River. It’s the first village of the Baspa Valley and the last village on the old Hindustan-Tibet route. It is also the last point in India one can travel to without a permit. Its also known as Indo Tibetian border village. As indicated by an ongoing report by Focal point of Environmental Sciences at IIT Delhi, Chitkul has the cleanest air in India. Chitkul is the start point for Lamkhaga pass trek and Borasu pass trek. Nagasthi ITBP post is 4km and Ranikanda knolls are 10km trek from Chitkul.
