Venice of the East
Srinagar is the biggest city and the mid-year capital of the Indian province of Jammu and Kashmir. It lies in the Kashmir Valley on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus, and Dal and Anchar lakes. The city is known for its regular habitat, greenery enclosures, waterfronts, and houseboats. It is additionally known for conventional Kashmiri crafted works and dried organic products. Srinagar is one of a few places that have been known as the “Venice of the East”. Lakes around the city incorporate Dal Lake – noted for its houseboats – and Nigeen Lake. Aside from Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake, Wular Lake and Manasbal Lake both lie toward the north of Srinagar. Wular Lake is one of the biggest crisp water lakes in Asia.
